The article was about what if the BCS Bowl Championship Series was to run the NFL? The article basically showed what the NFL would look like if the if they went to a system such as the BCS. The article said it would be a Chargers, Bears Superbowl. The BCS work basically by computers ratings and voters.

I feel that the BCS is rediculous and I feel that the NFL should never adopt a style like the BCS, and should stick to the playoff system. I feel that the NCAA should get rid of the BCS and go to a four or eight team playoff system to determine the national cahmpionship. I think that it shows how we today rely on technology to much.

Thomas’ asthma medicine causes drug policy violation

On Tuesday the New Orleans Saints football team found out that their star defensive linemen will be suspended for the next four football games due to a NFL drug policy infraction. The Saints found out that Hollis Thomas was suspended due to a steroid in his asthma medicine thus breking the NFL steroid policy.

I feel that in Hollis Thomas’s case that the NFL should not suspend him because of his steroid in his asthma medicine. The man needs the medicine to breathe as a normal human being and he isnt using the steroids to gain an advantage. Although he was in violation of the steroid policy its not like he is shooting up on steroids to get big, its a everyday necesity for the man to breathe, and should be granted the right to play with his team for the rest of the season. I personally know that asthma is not a joking matter due to the fact that my cousin to has sever asthma as Thomas and cant breathe with out taking steroids to help him breathe, and plus its low doses of steroids. I feel that the NFL should cut him sum slack and let the man play.

Snubbed Pujols says MVP should be on playoff team

The article is about Albert Pujols of the St Louis Cardinals, saying that he feels that MVP award should go to a player on a playoff team. Pujols feels that he was snubbed over the MVP voting this past year finishing second to Ryan Howard of the Phillies.

“I see it this way: Someone who doesn’t take his team to the playoffs doesn’t deserve to win the MVP,” Pujols said at a news confrence.

I would have to agree with Pujols in that he should have recieved the MVP award, seeing as how he led his team to the playoffs and eventually to their first world series since 1982. I feel that he has the right to be upset because Pujols clearly had the better numbers as a hitter and yet both players were the respective leaders of both their ball clubs Pujols did win the world series and Howard wasnt able to even get his team to the playoffs.

Riot breaks out at hockey game

Recently in Rome, N.Y, a brawl broke during the game between 13- and 14-year-olds hockey teams Saturday at Kennedy Arena. Police told reporters that there was eight to fifteen people involved in the brawl. The results of the brawl were one man injured, suffering a fractured skull and this led to the arrests of two women. Both women were charged with rioting, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail. The brawl was apperently started after three players were ejected from the game for fighting.

Personally, I feel that both women and the man be restriced from attending any of the events held at the stadium ever again. I think that its great that parents and other family members go to support their kids in an athletic event, but should remember why they are the arena, simply to support their kids. I know from personal experince from having played football, basketball, and baseball know how humilitaing its is to see your fans start fights with the other teams fans because of something that happened on the feild, or court. I feel that its great to have your friends and family there to support you, but when they feel that something wrong has happened in the feild of play that they feel the need to start a brawl is rediculous. Thats why there is referees at the games to control whats going on during the game and they make the calls and they to are human and sometimes make mistakes but this gives no parent the reason to start a brawl.

Knight: I didn’t do anything wrong, would do it again

This article is about the head coach Bobby Knight of Texas Tech’s basketball team and Knight slapping a player in the face, becasue the player wasnt looking Knight in the eye when he was talking to him during last nights game. During the game Bobby Knight called one of his players Michael Prince over to the bench. Knight claims that he was just lifting the players head up.

In my opinion, I feel that Knight is not wrong because after seeing the incident on television he didnt slap Michael Pierce hard enough to cause injury and he was doing it to just lift his head. I feel that Knight should have just lifted the players head up more softly instead of making it look like he slapped him. I personally from being around sports all my life have seen coaches do worse than slap a kid.

In the Article Planning, Advertising, and Consuption, Wesley Shumar shows in his essay how college’s over the years have instead of selling their education, and have been selling the other aspects of college life. The article shows how college brochures have gone from being like the Bible to now are more like a magazine. The article also talks about how the college bookstores have become more of a reatail store like Barnes and Nobles.

Personally when over the past year couple of years I have been looking at college’s to further my education and I have come across many college brochures. Many of the brochures that I have seen have all been small many only about ten to twenty pages long. Most of the brochures showed life outside of the college, and only showed some of the features of the college. Most brochures focused on the life outside of the college, but I only found two schools that gave me information about the programs they offer and then in the back of the brochure showed the outside life.

In the article Class Identity snd the Politics of Dissent by Julie Lindquist, she shows her study of ”class culture” in a small bar in Chicago. In the article Julie Lindquist studies the working class people that come into the bar were she was a bartender and recorded conversations, and took notes on what she heard. She shows how people come to the bar as a way to for people to come together.

One issue that comes from this article is that does america have a classless society. I feel that America does not have a classless society because there is in fact social classes in America, the rich, the middle class, and the lower class. I feel that it is virtually impossible to have a classless society simply because some people want to be more than average they want to be successful and no one wants to be like anyone else.

Bye, bye Bagwell: Astros officially part ways with 1B

This is about the Huston Astros officially letting their long time first basemen go. Jeff Bagwell the long time first baseman was let go by the Huston astros. Jeff Bagwell has been the organization for 15 years and is the Astros all time leader in homeruns, runs batted in, and runs scored. As a Huston Astro Bagwell won the N.L. M.V.P. in 1994 also winning a Gold Glove and he also won the N.L. rookie of the year in 1991. Bagwell missed most of last season with an arthritic right shoulder, which many believe the reason is why the Astros let him go. After being asked if he would retire, Bagwell replied that its not his time to retire and feels that he has a couple more years left. I feel that it is time for Bagwell to retire he has produced lower numbers the past couple of years and is getting up there in age. I feel that he should retire in part that teams wont put the money into a old, injured player, simply becasue its not worth the risk.

The story of Achievement of Desire is a story about a child. The story of The Achievement of Desire is about Richard Rodriguez, and tells his story about how he his early childhood all the way up to adulthood. The story tells about how he spent much of his childhood reading books, which was somewhat despised by his parents, because they believed he was reading to get out of chores, or to get out of going outside to play. The story also shows the differences between Richards home life and school. In the story Richard is called the “scholarship boy” because he was so smart and he earned a scholarship to further his education. The stpry also shows the relationship that Richard shared with his parents at because they still had there accents and still practiced there cultural ways, and Richard kind of drifted away because he lost his accent and plus he could read and speak good english. I feel the story was good it showed that if you spend time and workhard that anybody can earn a scholarship.

NFL flexes, to move Bears-Giants to Sunday night

The article is simply about the football game between the New york Giants and the Chicago Bears on November 12. The game supposed to be played on sunday at 1o’clock and was moved to the night game. Normally the NFL isnt allowed to move the times of a game unless there is a special situation. Now, due to more television networks covering more games the NFL now has the right to change the times of games. I feel that the NFL was simply thinking that because its two good teams that they would move the game into the night game becasue its consider some what as the spotlight. The game will be highly viewed due to the fact that the Giants are 4-2 and the Bears are 6-0. The game will be close considering that the Giants have one of the most potent offenses in the game led by the NFL’s leading rusher Tiki Barber and the Bears have one of the best defenses, high respected as one of the best rush defenses in the game.
